Pinnacle Solene BC

has anyone used this reel yet? Its suppose to be a new modle for 2007.

I just bought one for my wife ( she liked the color, burnt orange ) That was the most important thing to her.  I got it on E-Bay new for $30, i think they retail for $50 or $60, But not sure. I see alot of them for "buy now" at $45, but I also saw two listing for up to $90 Its her first BC, she was using one of mine last year and wanted her own.

I'll be honest, This is a nice reel. I was surprised. I was in that back yard casting it.

this reel looks great,

feels really good.

Smooth,  like a reel that cost alot more.

Just seeing if anyone had tried this reel yet. I think I might have to get one for myself.

Here are the specs on it ( from the box)

Unlimited Anti-Reverse

6 Stainless Steel Bearings (1 Roller Bearing)

Fully Adjustable Magnetic Cast Control

Machined Aluminum Spool

Quick Access Side Plate Cover

High Speed 6.2: Gear Ratio

Weight 7.8 Oz.

Line Capacity Lbs./Yds. 12/130

I have a few Pinnacle reel, but they are higher $$$ reels that this one. I do have some other threir rods and love them.

Hey Jim,

Its funny you made that post.  I just bought my girlfriend the exact same reel off of eBay (she liked the color) and does seem like a nice reel.  The reason I bought the reel for her is to keep her from picking up my G Loomis-Daiwa Viento combo, which she liked to pick up and try casting when I would set it down.  Now she has her own rod and reel combo to use (and this will hopefully spare some of my equipment).

Let me preface this by saying that 4 of my 6 reels are pinnacles.  I bought one with some money from christmas, when I got it home and played with it a little while I became concerned about a grinding noise I heard while playing with it.  I took it back to Roger's (where I got it) and played with the others. They all had the same noise.  I took it back home and took it apart and noticed that it had all plastic gears except for the main crank.  Just be careful, I may be wrong, this might be an issue with it later down the road.  I took mine back and got a vision metal.  All of my Pinnacle reels have all metal gears.  Maybe I'm just paranoid, but the plastic gears make me nervous.

Steve,

Hey sorry I din't get back faster. I too lost a combo to my wife, but that was ok. She just wanted her own set up. So this was the reel she picked( she really wanted a hot pink reel) She got into fishing lilly pads a few years ago and loves it. Her spinning gear just can't hold up to that punishment. I Know guys, spinning gear can hold up, but she doesn't like the bigger reels. So I showed her how to use a BC and she learned fast. I have a 6'6" MH deadbolt this will go on and it will make a great combo for her to fish the pads.

Fatman1267, I also have a few,  pinnacle reel, they are all metal ones to. I have had their cheep ones to. I was just say that this reel (being under$100) really impressed me. It doesn't feel like a cheep reel. And no, this one has no grinding sound to it, or feel. It makes no sound, and it is butter smooth, that is what impressed me. If it made a grinding sound it would be gone. I know its not in the same class as my Chronarchs or my team daiwa's, but its a nice reel for the price. Also if you don't mind? what did you pay for it?(the SOLENE) I haven't seen them in stores yet.
