Anybody use a Berkley Bionix Rod?

Featured Replies

My local Wal-Mart just started their seasonal clearance on their fishing dept. and I picked up a Berkley Bionix 7' Med. action crankbait fiberglass casting rod for $10.It was originally marked $70. It seems like a well built rod and I was wondering if anybody out there has used such a rod. Any positive or negative comments? I also picked up a Berkley Bionix Spinning rod that is almost identical to the casting rod same action, length, and price.

I was also looking at a Daiwa "Team Daiwa" spinning rod in a 6'6" with a Med. Heavy action. they have these marked the same price as the casting rod I bought. Any thoughts on the Daiwa rod?

Yup, I like the bionix rods.  I have two (casting and spinning) 6'6" rods.  For the money I paid for them they are great ($14 each).  I have used them all last season without any problems.  You can't go wrong with them for $10!!!

Harshman... Medium isn't the action of the rod, that is the power.  Action is moderate, moderate-fast, fast and extra fast.  That's how much of the rod will bend.

What is the action of those rods you bought?

Sorry . I meant power just a habit to say action , all you ever see are rods advertised Med. Action or Heavy Action. etc. etc. Bad habit.

I would say the action is around moderate fast to fast some where in that range. it is not spelled out on the rod I'm just going by feel after casting it a few times with a plug tied to it.

I've got the bionix graphite medium spinning rod in the 7' length. I paid $30 for mine and I feel like it was a good deal for the $.

Lightweight. Sensitive. I'm a fan.

Actually after looking at the rod I don't think Ineed to correct myself. It reads Medium Action on the rod.

I am totally confused now.

Ha ha... interesting...medium action huh.

Cabels can you explain why the rod would say medium action? I guess I've never taken the action in to account I usually look at what the rod reads and then test the amount of bend it has. I understand that all mediums are not created alike, but this one has me confused.

I just bought a 6' MH yesterday to go with Symetry 2500. ALL the spinning rods I've had before were light or med. light. I always used spinning just for pan fish. I really wanted something heavier to try. I could be wrong about this (have been before) but the action of the Bionix MH seems to be about the same as a Bionic Blade M that I've got and I like the action well enough to be planning on getting another when they go on sale in about a month at 1/2 price...

After I logged off, I realized I wasn't quite clear on my last post of comparing a Bionic Blade M action to the Bionix MH. The Bionic Blade is a bait caster and the Bionix that I just bought (first Berkley rod) is a spinning rod. Just messing with it out in the yard, it seems really nice. I'll have to wait for any real test on the water, it's colder than a well digger's destination out there now :'(....
