So, my buddy recently gifted me a baitcaster set up that he put as "versatile". It's a Diawa 6'6 M Exeler baitcaster combo. I'm not sure about the gear ratio for the reel or the action in the rod.

I'm just wondering what it would be useful for honestly. I tend to use bigger rods like 7' - 7'7 rods or smaller bfs style setups for bass fishing because of the places I fish, never used anything in the 6ft range. Any tips or ideas as to what I should use it for?

Small spooks? Walking the dog is easier with a shorter rod. 

 

1/2oz ploppers? I like a medium for mine. 

 

I like shorter rods in the kayak.
