Went to gander mountian today looking for a new casting rod. They had these marked down from 69.99 to 49.99 I was looking at the 6ft-6in hvy because I fish mainly plastics is this a good rod for the price.I would like some input before I buy it. Thanks

Really great rod ESPECIALLY AT THAT PRICE I have used the Fenwicks: Venturas.Eagle GT, HMX and HMG they are all great rods. I just stepped up to my first Tech AV

Yea muddy thats what I thought that rod felt good too. Also with the hvy and can fish jigs too. Which is my goal to get better at this year. I'm going to put my new bps extreme onthat rod and use for both techniqes.

I bought the 6'6" Heavy HMX rod last year at Gander Mountain, but I have never fished it yet. I got it for $29.99 in the clearance rack is the reason I bought it.I bought a 6' MH HMG Carbon veil rod as well then, but just recently traded it away,I hate the guides they use on the rods.In saying that, it is just a personal preference  thing,because guides on the HMG rod worked fine.Ivan

I currently have 3 fenwicks, and I will finish swapping out my other rods when I get the chance and money.   I currently have 2 Techna AV's, and 1 Eagle GT.  I think for their price Fenwick rods are the best choice available.  My experience has been that they are very close to being as light and sensitive as G Loomis rods, at a fraction of the price.  I don't think you can go wrong, especially at that price.

Thanks guys for your feed back. I would like to buy a loomis but my funds are just not there for there rods and besides. I can't justify paying that much for a rod but don't get me wrong they are the top of the line but fenwick has been around a long time. When I held the fenwick rod it felt pretty close to a loomis. I personally like the metal guides my self. Well I'am going to gander mountian tommorow to pick it up maybe get 2 of them for that price. thanks again

Fenwick would give you 55% off towards on the next Fenwick rod purchase if you broke a Fenwick rod that wasn't covered under warranty.I am not sure if that still exists, but it did state that on the warranty card from one of my Fenwick rods.It was for moot, because I have never broken a fenwick rod yet. I have a HMG 6'Medium pistol grip that is one of my favorite topwater rods. The pistol grip is funky looking, but it fishes nice.Ivan
