F for Berkley Forward

Featured Replies

This is an Alberto knot with 8lb Berkley Forward and 4lb Suffix Trout HP.  I tied the knot twice because I thought the first time was a fluke, but the Berkley Forward frays every time.  The know was moistened and tightened by hand with gloves on. 10 wraps up and 11 wraps down. I haven't seen this with other lines.

Its a softer more supple line and 11 bends may be too much.  If the knot is cinching correctly the color will be much darker.  Try 7 and 7 with a double hitch at the end, and don't use a glove.  I've seen a few different braids fray from cotton rags and gloves.
