Help match line and baits

Featured Replies

BC :I have some heavy fast rods. Med fast rodt; wo reels with braid, one with Mono.   Thinking about using Fluoro on one

Spinning: fast and me.  All with braid to mono

I fish a lot of worms T rigged

I have some 7.5 inch soft swimbaits I want to try (3:16)

I just got some frogs for Father's day and some bladed jigs

What to use with what?  I am overthinking it. I fish pad fields and slop, in stained to muddy water, from a kayak. I was using braid on a MF BC for pretty much everything.

Most of my rods have mono or co-polymer on them.  However, I much prefer braid in slop.  Now that I've retired to Florida, more of my reels will be getting braid  as 'slop' is my preferred target.  :teeth:

Personally prefer 40# braid although I've had no problems with the couple reels spooled with 30# braid.  I see no need for a leader where I fish.

Many swear by fluorocarbon.  I have no problem with that, but will stick with what I am using.  With one exception.  I seldom fish jigs, but bought a rod just for them and plan on trying 14#-15# fluorocarbon on that rod.  Mostly because detecting bites on slack braid line has about a zero chance of me feeling the bite.  :(
