Is it just me or is the Z-Man ZWG a lot heavier than the Mustad Grip Pin in the same weights?

Sorry I really didn’t want to start a second thread but this is time sensitive as I have a trip coming up and need to place an order tonight.

 

I have thrown both the ZWG & Grip Pin in 1/8 and the ZWG sinks significantly faster. Is this due to what appears to be a much heavier gauge hook? Why exactly do they use such a meaty hook for a 5” soft plastic thrown on a finesse setup?

 

Lastly, have you thrown the Grip Pin on 1/8 and 1/16 and which did you find got more strikes? ZWG in 1/16 is only available in 3/0 which is strange considering the larger plastic adds weight so naturally you’d need less.
