Berkley iron silk?

Featured Replies

Anyone try or use this? Local store has it on sale. Wondered if it was worth trying.

Thanks

I think I am the only person that ever liked that stuff. Everywhere I've read says it's junk, but I never had problems. I've switched to something with a better reputation and have had no prolems with that either (p-line cxx). I would rather not take chances.

I think Berkley may have repackaged their Ironsilk and that may be why it's on sale. Just be careful because if that is the case, it may have been sitting on the shelf for a while.

Use it for backing on my reels. Junk ! :'( >:)

When it first came out I worked at Gander Mountain, just for S & G's.  More S than G's too.  Anyways, I was given some to try.  It does cast like a bullet, no doubt about that.  But, it is the worst line that I have ever used.  It does not last long, I think sunlight breaks it down really fast.  Within 2 weeks the line was shot.  Probably only used on 4 or 5 outings.  It turned really brittle and knot strength went to crud.  And when I say crud, I mean ****!  Do not use this line.  I would rather use the generic Shakespear line that is super cheap.  Actually the Shakespear line is not all that bad, but there are much better lines out there.

Thanks for the replys everyone. Sounds like I'll stick to something like triline XL. Kinda makes ya wonder why they keep selling something nobody likes.
