Considering the popularity of this reel platform and the fact that 1500Cs and 2500Cs are getting hard to come by at a fair price, I have been in talks with a manufacturer about bringing shallow lightweight spools along with a magnetic braking system to market for this particular platform.  I was told by the manufacturer to gauge a little interest in order to see if it would be viable for them to do either a limited run or keep it in regular production according to uptake.  Since the 1500C and 2500C can cost a small fortune for some, the price of admission can be high by the time all is said and done.  A $150 reel can quickly turn into a $500+ reel.  By contrast, Max reels can be had cheap at the moment, just like the 1500C and 2500C could be had cheap before BFS came on to the scene.

For those unaware, this is the reel in question.  Originally released to compete with the Shimano Calcutta B, featuring a low reel foot, one piece aluminum frame, and disengaging level wind.

I think it's cool and support this kind of thing.  One of my favorite fishing channels is a guy that 3d prints spools for antique reels and then goes mountain stream fishing with UL baits. I recently bought an aftermarket spool and magnetic brake assembly for a Ming Yang CL25 (same reel as the BPS crappie maxx).  This was only possible because a fan of these reels was working with the manufacturer and was also 3d printing magnet holders so he had this stuff for sale on a Japanese site but has since given up making anything new.  I was fortunate to come across the last of his active listings and nabbed a spool, magnetic assembly as well as a magnetic brake for my Ming Yang W300.

I think whoever makes a spool for the Black Max should also offer spools for the 4600 and Morrum reels now that Amo no longer sells to US customers but I don't know how viable that would be since those never took off here.  There just doesn't seem to be much interest in the reels in the US.  Maybe there is but the audience could never figure out what aliexpress was to buy any of it and just stuck to what was available on ebay?

From what I see there is either little to no interest in spools and parts for the 4600, Morrum and Black Max and it's 2500c or nothing for US anglers OR there is interest but it has to be ebay available only or it might as well not exist.

I have gauged the interest of a well known company to undertake this.  They never considered the Max reels because they weren't sold in their country, but a US market model only.  They already have an Ultracast 4500/4600 spool and brake so that is not needed.  I provided them with a video of myself servicing one from start to finish and told them about how the 1600 and 3600 took the place of the small Ambassadeur in the USA during the 90s, while those classic small Abus stayed in production until 2009 for their own market.  The Morrum ultimately replaced the round Max reels in 1999.  There's a small shop in Vietnam that has been making spools for these reels for a bit now, but they are no longer able to ship to the USA since June of this year.

Is it Amo?  I always wondered why they never had a Back Max 1600 spool.  Did that reel not sell outside of the US?

It isn't AMO.  It's a small Japanese manufacturer.  They were a US market reel only.

What Calcuttas are the Black Max 1600 and 3600 comparable to in size? I usually opt for the smaller reel and I don't own a 1600 yet but I'm investigating and I would definitely be interested in a shallow spool.

The 1600 is closer in physical dimensions to a Calcutta 50B, and the 3600 a 100B.  The Abus are markedly heavier than their Shimano counterparts due to Abu using a cast frame while Shimano uses a much lighter forged frame.  The Abus did have the lighter spools from the factory though.
