Swivel barrels with swivel barrel snaps/clips

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am trying to speed up lure changes and so I lined up my lures and flashers with swivel barrels and a swivel barrel with snap/clip on my rod line. Each lure does have about a 12-16 inch lead on it. Is this a good method? We don't do for bass, just lake fish like trout and kokanee. Reason for doing this was to speed up time spent for charging lures and having more time with the rod in the water.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I do the same thing. I use snaps (not snap swivels) for the same reason...plus I'm admittedly lazy when it comes to changing lures. As you said, I want to get it changed and line back in the water asap! JMHO

I'm not a fan of using a swivel snap on any lure that doesn't have the potential of causing line twist, like an in-line spinner, or spoon. I use snaps for ease of changing baits, but in the summer, I'd much rather tie directly to the line tie, or split ring. I fish a lot of deadfalls and chunk rock and retying frequently is a must. I get lazy when using a clip or snap.

I have multiple rods rigged with different bait types, but if you only have a single rod or just pounding the bank with 1 rod then buy Spro or Owner brand. They’re the best quality you can get in freshwater sizes..

And Decoy. That is another highly trusted brand. Especially in the swimbait community.
