I just purchased a Pflueger President open face reel and it came with a spare aluminum  spool.  Can someone tell me how to go about changing the spool.  I assume that you turn the drag knob counterclockwise untill it comes off?  Wasn't sure if there was anything special I needed to do or look for.    I just want to put line on the spare spool to have it as a backup.  

exactly how you described it loosen the drag till you can pull the spool off and welcome to the forum

I unscrewed the drag knob and it came right off, just thought I should ask in case there were springs or anything else in there.

I like the Pfleuger reel a lot, it seems to cast well and is very smooth on the retrieve.
