Melton Hill Bass Fishing Report

Featured Replies

Asking anyone who has fished Melton Hill (near Solway) the past few weeks. i am a bank fisherman and have caught many average LM here - ( Gulnn Road park, etc) for years now. This year - been 4 times and got 1 crappie. Idk if it’s the drought or what is going on, but it hasn’t been great. Any hints or help would be greatly appreciated. Joe B.

I fished that area not too long ago. I'd agree less than spectacular. Over the years I've always been able to rely on Melton Hill for some great frog/buzzbait action in the summer over and in the grass. They might not be big but they've historically been very willing. That last trip was really bad, 3 small bass. Fished lots of areas that should have held bass but not much action. I fished right at the Guinn Rd park you talk about and had zero takers which is not normal. Not sure what the deal is but I hope it gets better for you guys . I fish there occasionally but always seem to find 'em, not this year though.

I’ve struck out a bunch on Loudon, Watts, and Melton Hill the last month or so. I can’t tell if it was the lack of rain, or now the constant rain. I’m tempted to head up to Norris at the park this weekend. Usually decent luck since there’s zero boat traffic.
