P-Line Spectrex IV

Featured Replies

Has anyone used this braided line and what are your thoughts on it? ::)

Only braid I've used and I've been quite happy with it.

Ditto with Burley. After using the same line for over half a year, catching bass, gar and giant branches, I went to the keys and caught a 4 foot barracuda on the same line. I also think it is also a bit thinner. I use 50 pound test which it says is diameter of 10lb mono, as opposed to 50lb braid;12lb mono with other companies.

I LOVE it!!! I've done quite a bit of comparison with other braids and have always been the most pleased with the Spectrex. That's not to say I've had a problem with ANY of them but the Spectrex doesn't fray over time like many of the other lines.

No fraying= Stronger line over an extended period of time.

Well, you can't really go by what they say.  One brand's 10 lb. might have a diameter of 0.011" while another brand's might be 0.012" or 0.013".

Which is to say that you can't really go by what any package of line says.  I buy based on the diameter, not the manufacturer's stated rating.

Thats a good point. I guess it's sort of like shoe sizes, they seem a little different with different companies. I still say buy the stuff
