What do you folks think?  Im looking to buy some new reels and I came accross this deal...Three Quantum Shaw Grigsby SGA600CX for $130.00.  Sound like a good deal?  And does anyone kow if these are just accurist reels or not?

Yes they are built to the old Accurist CX specs. 6.2:1 GR. The last one I saw for service was during the winter.

The older CX's 03 and earlier, had bad problems with the layout of the side plate receiver that held the IAR bearing pack. The shape of the receiver (hexagonal) with to much back pressure (caused by super tight drags) would cause the receiver to round out, and the issue was that many anglers thought the IARs were slipping into reverse, and were in fact turning in the receiver of the side plate.

Other than that the reels were very sound and if you didn't try to make them direct drive (max tight drags) the reels would hold up. But as many anglers liked the flipping switch on the reels and, the anglers would crank the drags well past max, and the reel would fail.

Shaw uses the Energy PT reels himself, for most all of his baitcasting now. His sight fishing is done with spinning.
