Spinning Reel Knot

Featured Replies

Well I need to restring my reel tonight and I was wondering if there is a special not I should use to connect the line to the spool.  I typically just wing a knot, something close to a tripple granny.  It works but I just want to do things the proper way this time.  I ran a search on the forum and couldn't come up with anything.  I know there has to be info on this somewhere.  If someone could guide me to the right place I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Jason

i think the arbor knot is the recommended knot for tying to the spool...but i just do like you said you always do..i just tie that sucker on there and trim the tag end

;D

Allright, I will check that out.  Thanks for the info.

I use a Duncan Loop knot at least I think that is the name, awful similar to a uni-knot. I like it because I can tie the loop, put it on the spool and draw it tight. My fingers are too big to try and get knots tight down at the base of the spool.

I don't believe it matters. If you get on a huge fish that runs out all your line down to the spool, that line's gonna break regardless of knot. I think your winging it is just fine.

I agree. Besides, I have always been arbor knot challenged.
