new rod help

Featured Replies

hey guys, unfortunately I have to get a new rod.  My girlfriend rolled up the rear windows in the SUV today after returning and broke approx 3 inches off my Berkley Series 1 rod.  I actually had gotten quite fond of it and loved using it, but it died.

I would just go ahead and buy another Series 1 but they don't make them the same as mine anymore.  Nowadays they have cork in front of the reel seat, mine was just a rubber grip and then the rod.  So, I ask...what is a good rod in the 70-85 dollar range(My girlfriend is nice enough to replace it) since thats what the series 1 costs.  I would PREFER one to have the same kinda blank exposure under the seat and a matte finish(don't ask, but I think the Matte just looks sexy!)  Also, as little cork as possible in front of the reel seat.
