baitcaster set-ups

Featured Replies

My in laws gave me a new baitcaster combo for my birthday ;D.  I don't know anything about it , but i'm pretty sure it isn't as nice as what I have now.  However, I just don't it to be laying around the garage.  Since i've been visiting this site I haven't learned as much about setups as I should of, just the basics.  I'll tell you guys what I have and what I use them for and  maybe ya'll can tell me what a good application for this combo would be.

Currently have:

Shimano Citica 6.2:1 ratio/6'6" MH BPS Extreme rod

used for all weighted soft plastics

Abu Garcia Revo S 6.4:1/7' MH BPS Bionic Blade rod

used for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, frogs, swimming a jig.  I really like this combo so i'll use it a lot.

Shimano Cruxis (don't remember the ratio on this one)6:1(i think)/6'6" M BPS Bionic Blade rod

Used for unweighted soft plastics, crankbaits and walk the dog type topwaters

Recieved from in laws:

Pinnacle PLS100 6.3:1/SW balance combo JM6 Graphite rod(this is exactly what the rod says on it)I have no idea what it means.  It is rated for 1/4 to 5/8 oz lures

Any ideas on what this rod would be good for would be appreciated.  Also, if i'm using something wrong out of what I currently have please tell me.  All 3 of what I currently have are strung w/ 15lb P-Line CXX

Your 3 rod setups seem fine.  I'm not familiar with Pinnacle reels or rods.

They arent bad from what I have seen just not as durable.  If it was me my least sensitive rod and average reel would be a spinnerbait/buzzbait/crankabit rod.  However these are the techniques I use the most so I have my best/lightest equipment set up for these techniques for the pleasure effect.
