DD 22

Featured Replies

I was just on a site looking at norman cranks and they said the DD22 will dive to 18 on a long cast. Why wouldn;t they call this the norman DD 18 then? I was thinking it would go down to 22 as the name suggests.

Why do hot dogs come in packages of 10 when buns come in packages of 12?

One of those "who knows" questions I think.  I actually think it will go 18-22ft depending on line weight.  If you go to an 8lb, I bet you can reach 22ft if you swim it down slowly and not fast.  I have three right now and I rarely use them.  I like the D14 and the Thin Little N.

Long ago, I had a book by Mike McLelland (the walleye guy, not the bass pro) that had the diving and trolling depths of about every plug on the market.  The methods they used to test the baits were excellent.  Very few baits actually reached the diving depth listed on the package when cast.

I don't even try to use them past 15'.......a perfectly tuned DD22 on small diameter line will still only do high teens (I've only heard of a few guys who actually claim they can hit 20' with them.....and not consistently enough to warrant the effort.)

I can get them down to at least 15 f. consistently and often deeper, up to 20 f. if I can make a long cast. Fluoro line and Storm dots help a lot. One of my favorite together with the DT16.
