Any One ever epxerience this?

Recommended Posts

first off this is such a coincidence that im posting this at this time because i meant to post it a few days ago, but i forgot, so now when i do post it there are a bunch of other posts about braid. lol thats funny.

anyway, when im "breaking in" new powerpro, it sprays this gunky green stuff on the inside of my reel (all around where the spool rotates) when i cast. this stuff is the coating from the line. does this happen to other people? does it happen on all braided line? what should i do about it? how can i clean it?

Wipe it down.  I've got two or three rods that have green cork.  I expect to look like the Incredible Hulk for the first couple of trips after I put on new braid.

the coating from the line turned your cork green???

yikes that bad!

the thing is i cant wipe it down, it gets in all the little spots in the "spool bay" or whatever the whole open part is called and i cant get to any of them.

wait, the idea just came to me to take the spool out and clean it....duh :-/ i should have thought.

It always happens, you will also notice the line fade to a light green too.

Wow, has Power Pro changed their process. My line would turn white after 100 outings but it took awhile. Never had green spool or cork. Ifished it in the St John river and the intercoastal.

Something must have changed because these are problems that I never had.

yea ive noticed that...and it looses its "crunchyness" so to speak. but i guess im seeing this issue because its the first time i've used braid on a baitcaster, and that never happend on a spinning reel.

Ya, I noticed that "crunchyness" issue too. I usually kink the line and then slide it through on my palomars instead of going through then back out and you cant kink it after a few outings, its like it gets softer.

I bought one spool of Power Pro to try out. It did the same thing; green stuff and the line was stiff. Last spool I'll ever buy, there are too many good braids out there to mess with this stuff.

i like powerpro alot, and i dont think the stiffness is an issue. like tin2win said, it wears off after a few outings.
