Daiwa

I think I'm going to get the Pixy soon, but I'm not sure if I want to get another JDM reel, or save $100 and get another Sol, which is still on sale.

All three have the same line pick up, same braking system, ect.... The only real difference I have found in my research is better bearings on the 103 and Type-F. I'm not sure that is an issue as I only fish freshwater. The other thing is weight. I get 1 oz of weight savings with the 103 over the Sol, and the Type-F is .2 lighter than that. The big question is, is it really worth $100 to get the exact same reel 1 oz. lighter???

Where is the Sol on sale for $155?

There are two on eBay right now for $155.00 shipped. You got to know how to work the system on eBay. Alot of people put things for sale in places you would never think to look. Sometimes people get the spelling wrong on an item, this is my personal favorite. Smoking deals happen this way. I better be quiet before I give away all my little devious tricks.... :-X   Also, look for wrong price listings on buy it now items.  I found a Shimano Calcutta TE NIB that had been bought for $20.00 instead of $200.00.  It was a listing from Japan that was a misprint.  I bet the seller was mad as hell.  He had to honor it.  Too bad I didn't find it first.  :-[

I posted this before, but you may have missed it. Sportsmans warehouse is having a sale on some baitcasters like the Sol, Fuego, Pflueger President. The Sol is marked in the case at $179, but when I checked out, it rang up at $155. This was a lefthand though, they might be lower priced.

From what I hear, if you need to warranty your reel, it better be a US reel or you are S.O.L.

But I could be wrong.

.

No necessarily. There are Japanese sellers that honor their reels warranty. Japan Tackle one of them.

The warranty on most Daiwas is for a year, again factory defects, with a receive and to the original owner. If you get a reel from Ebay there is a good chance that the warranty is void.

Quality reels rarely have manufacturer defects, most are due to use and mishandling, by them you are out of warranty, Daiwa will fix them  but you have to pay for.
