Shimano Cumara

I want opinions from Cumara owners or maybe some who know Cumara owners and what they say about these rods.

This looks like a nice stick for $200. This thing has got to be comparable to a Loomis IMX and yet a bit cheaper.

My reason for wanting one is half stupidity and half necessary. Stupid because I just want to own one of Shimano's best rods and compare it to my Crucials. The necessity is arthritis in my wrists and hands and I've found lighter equipment helps a bunch, especially in longer rods. Lightweight, short rods make a BIG difference but I don't pitch jigs with a 6' rod so I want to experience the lightest they have. I don't think I could do better for my $200. If you think I can, throw it in here.

I know this could be a stretch since they are relatively new and may not even be available at a lot of places yet, but if you own one, let me know what you think of it.

Dobyns and Powell rods for $180 are a GREAT deal, very light, very sensitive.

Haven't used the Cumara so I couldn't tell you otherwise.

I have handled the Cumara's at a local tackle shop and they are VERY light and seem like good rods for the money. I have not fished with one though so I cannot comment on whether they are comparable to say an IMX or a Helium LTA.

A local tackle shop is supposed to be getting a few Cumara's this week. I plan to give one a shake when they get here....I need a new spinning rod and one of the Cumara's might do the trick.

The local Cabela's has a couple Cumara rods in stock.  One 6'8" drop shot rod and one 7'2" drop shot rod.  I will say that there will be a 7'2" cumara dropshot spinning and 7'2" medium heavy jig rod in my future.

I was at the local Cabela's tonight.  They have about every Shimano rod except the Cumara's.  I'm just going to wait until next spring.  I want the 6'8" MH/Xtra Fast casting.  Actually, I don't want anything over 6'6" but we'll see how hard my arm gets twisted.  I did find a 7'2" to look at but that is way longer then I want.  Nice stick though!!  Al Lindner has been using them too.
