Line to use

Featured Replies

Sorry for such a newbie question but what type of line would i use for a very murky body of water with high seaweed and lillys?

15lb berkley big game or pline cxx or 50lb power pro. if you are using a spinning rod, i would lean towards the power pro.

50LB??????

50lb PowerPro has roughly same line diameter as 15lb mono.

Go with the PowerPro braid. By murky, if you mean you cant see your bait after a foot or foot and a half. A good all around pound test is 30 imo, diameter of 10. If you cant see your bait beyond a couple of inches you can get away with the higher pound tests.

With powerpro or any braid on a spinning reel make sure you either have a mono leader tied to the spool and connected to the powerpro or tape the power pro directly to the spool.

guess good line doesnt come cheap eh

I don't know about other people but for me powerpro lasts forever. Braid doesnt reel get messed (lack of better words) up while on the reel. Also nothing really snaps it.

with fishing line as with most things you get what you pay for.

The conditions you described, positively scream out for braided line.

the braid will cut through the weeds, it will have the strength to horse the biggest bass in the lake,

and the major downside.......visibility is neutralized by the water clarity.

dude,  there is really no other candidate for "best"

will other lines work well?..........Absolutely.
