G Loomis BCR802 GLX - Thoughts?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any thoughts on the G Loomis BCR802 GLX?  I'm seriously considering treating myself to a nice pre-christmas gift.

To anyone that owns one of these:  please include what you don't like about the rod as well.

Thanks,

Jason

Well I have the BCR852 which is pretty similar but just a little longer. If the BCR802 is anything like the one I have you'll love it. I caught fish with it on Senkos, spinnerbaits, spoons, and jigs so far and I've been impressed.  I am not sold on the guides yet. I say treat yourself!! ;)

You may also want to check out the St. Croix EC68MXF.  My Girlfriend perfered that over the Loomis.  If you can, check them both out in person.  You can't go wrong with either one.

can't say about that exact model but the bcr series is a little stiffer than the mag bass series.  It should be a great rod for anything with trebles and not too thick plastics.

I like the guides.  I can't break them........yet.  :-/

I, like Infidel, have the 852, and I absolutely love it.  I have a TD-Z 103ML mounted on it.  I use this rod for shakey heads, small jigs, and finesse T-rigs.

The first time I felt a fish strike on this rod, it literally scared me.  The rod is that sensitive.  It was like a shock wave down my arm.  The real surprise came when I set the hook for the first time, as the rod immediately took over; talk about efficient.

If I had to think of something I don't like about the rod, um, It would be the fact that I would not use it for cranks or jerks.  But that's ok, this rod does what it is designed to do, fish plastics and jigs, better than any other rod I have ever fished.

-Hope that helps some,

Shaun
