XMLti?

Featured Replies

I've read a couple comments on Cabela's XMLti rods but I don't think there has been a thread about them.  Any thoughts?

They felt very nice in the store, and I love the reel seats.  Just wondering how they compare against other rods in the ~$180 dollar range.

I know that one huge benefit would be customer service.  Cabela's is impeccable in that regard, so I know if there were any problems at all I could drive ten minutes and get a brand new one, probably even if it's my fault.

I love Cabelas XML rods, but I am not a big fan of the XML Ti rods though.  The XML Ti are a little tip heavy to me and they don't have the ability to add any weight at the end like the XML's do for balancing.  I think the XML's have the same reel seats (which I think are the best there is) as the XML Ti's.  Also, the recoil guides are noisy with braids, which is another reason I like the XML's.  You can get a good deal on combos with the regular XML and as you mentioned, Cabelas customer service is second to none.

Yeah, the thing is, I remember not being impressed with the XML rods.  Aren't they heavier than the XMLti?  And do all the XMLti rods have the recoil guides?

I don't think the XML's are much heavier then the XML Ti (make sure you pick an XML up that doesn't have that rod sleeve fastened to it.  It makes a big difference).  I also do think that all the XML Ti have the Reciol Guides.
