They're almost gone....

Featured Replies

I got another story after contacting various Sportsmans warehouses. It seems they are discontinuing the sale of Daiwa Sol and Fuego baitcasting reels. The low price they have on them is a "until they are gone" price. I ended up having to get 2 Fuegos shipped to me from way down in Kansas. Only three stores in their chain had them left in stock when I bought mine. I was told that store inventory was being replentished, but I went with buying now incase there was a change in that story. BTW, I wanted left side cranking, that's why they were so low on them, the stores had right hand cranking reels. Better get 'em while they are at this price. 30% off quality left hand cranking reels is a pretty rare find.

I purchased a right handed Daiwa Sol there for $159.99 not long ago.  I went back and they had the Daiwa Fuego right handed reel for $179.99 and the left handed reel for $159.99.  I tried to get the manager to sell me the right handed reel for $159.99, which was the price of the left handed model.  He wasn't budging.  They also had no right handed Sol's left.  Only the lefty models.

this is bps right??? is it all of them (bps)?

It's strictly Sportsmans warehouse. As far as I know, only Sportsmans warehouse is dropping the Sol and Fuego. They are only 2 years old, not likely Daiwa has any plans to drop them anytime soon. They don't have any other reel in that price point, with those features. They have lower and higher cost ones, but nothing that light weight. I hear S-W does a lot of price cutting to lower inventory on slower moving items. The Sol and Fuego might not move enough for them. I notice they tend to have the more popular items. They don't have the Chronarch MG 50/51, that is one item that comes to mind.

All 4 stores I have been in, or contacted, have righty's for 179.95 and lefty's for 159.95 both models.

When I went there and saw the left handed Sol on sale, I asked them if they had any right handed models availible. They guy said no, but for some reason he looked through the lefty models and found one righty mixed in. I asked him how much, and he said they were $159.95. I went to the check out and the righty rang up $179.95. I told the cashier that the guy at the reel counter told me it was $159.95 and when she called back to the reel departement, the guy cinfirmed it. Looking back now, I think the guy made a mistake.

When I got my lefty Sol, I had called the store first in order to confirm they stocked and sold the reel. When I got there, all they had on display were right hand cranking Sol's and Fuego's for 179. I was surprised when I went to check out and they were cheaper than the display's. I had misread the receipt and thought it said 155, but later I found it said 159. Last week I went down to the cities and seen they had a S-W there. That's when I saw both the left and right Sol on display. The righty was 179 and the lefty was 159.
