New Rod/Reel Combo?

Featured Replies

Hey guys-

Im new to the forums but have been lookin around on here a couple of days. Im part of a Collegiate Fishing Team and currently fish competitively for them around the country. I am looking for some new rods and reels to purchase. I have 3 that I like to use right now pretty regularly, but right now I am specifically looking for a carolina riggin set up. I have 110 dollars in bass pro gift cards from Christmas, and about 250 all together to spend. I currently have: Browning Citori Combo, a Shimano Compre/Abu Garcia Revo, and a Pflueger President Spinning reel on a BPS 7' MH Rod. Both the baitcasting rods are M action. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I would like to get 2 more baitcasters. Also-I have been looking at the Quantum Energy PT's. Do any of you like them, and if so, have you had any problems with them at all? Also, are there any good sales going on online that you know of where I can get good stuff? Thanks-

If you feel comfortable or its your style, you might want to check out a medium/medium light spinning set-up for finesse fishing and a medium-heavy to heavy action casting set up for pitching and fishing heavy cover ;)

Welcome to the forum!!

I am sure someone will chime in on some good deals.  Their should be some good after Christmas sales.

I have a BPS 7'6" HVY with a Quantum ACS that I use for c rigging and flipping. Most of the lakes I fish are clear, deep and few weeds so I rarely flip. The rod has enough backbone and length to move a lot of line on the hook set when c rigging. I would buy another identical setup.
