i was wondering if anyone here has used the loomis bronzeback rods. a friend of mine just picked up a quantum pt-i energy spinning reel and he's looking to get a new rod for it. the bronzeback is one of the ones he was considering. he'll mostly be throwing senko's on it, pretty much because that's all he throws.

any input on this rod or any rod in the $200 price range that would be better suited is appreciated.

There is one Bronzeback rod I would recommend.  The SMR882S-SP.  It is a great rod and the added length (the rod is 7'4" long) would be perfect for picking up line while setting the hook.  That's the one I think he should check out.
