Using lb test line over recommended rod/line rating?

Featured Replies

I just got a new carrot stick rod that has a line rating of x-20 lb max.

Would it hurt to run anything higher? I have some 30lb braid i wanted to spool up, but if im going to really risk damaging the rod it's not worth it, ill go get some 20lb.

Thanks.

That rating is diameter wise and deosnt account for super lines if my memory is correct 30lb braid is equal to 8lb test mono/fluoro

I dont know how low the line test rating goes for that rod cuse  of the x but i would get some heavier braid than 30lb if it is a baitcasting rod to help against backlashes just to be safe

Yeah No probelm thats what i thought but not gonna say anything unless im sure.
