Diawa brakes:

A mag-z brake is more of a all around brake.

The mag-v is a finesse, flipping pitching brake.

The magbreak is closer to the mag-z.

What are some other alternatives to the Mag-V style thats in the Sol, Super tuned thing, and the 103 steez. Im looking for something less than $200. Thanks

I don't think the brakes are all that important as I find myself feathering the spool with my thumb anyway. If your looking to do a lot of pitching, I really wouldn't worry about it. The BPS Extreme series reels are fine for any fishing application and won't cost anywhere near $200.

magforce is the original braking system

mag V is used on reels with a V shaped spool even top of the line models like the TD-Z

mag Z is slightly more refined and used on higher end reels with a U shaped spool like the fuego and Steez.

they all work very well for ole avid.  8-)
