O.K. guys, my buddy gave me an 80.00 gift card for Cabela's and wants me to get him a rod.  What would you suggest.  I would like to get him something like a medium light action so he can use it for drop shotting and for a all around trout rod.  He is only a casual fisherman so I couldn't talk him into spending any extra money.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Clarus is a great rod in that price range. If you catch them on sale you can get a Shimano Compre for that price. A St. Croix Premiere is also in that neighborhood. Good luck.
