TIP HEAVY-What Does This Mean???

Featured Replies

Sorry to sound ignorant, but I'm not sure what a tip heavy rod means.

The tip feels heavier than the butt.

An unbalanced rod.  It's like when you're trying to hold your rod tip up, as alot of plastics/jig fishermen do, and the tip wants to drop down towards the water.  Like Burley said, the tip feels heavy.  A heavier reel will help combat this.

Some of the splitgrip and/or removed forgrip rods are guilty of this.

You can also counter this by adding weight to the butt of the rod.  Check out BPS online catalog and they carry a generic cap and weights that allow you to balance a rod nicely.
