New worm/jig/tube rod

Featured Replies

Ok I'm looking for a new bait casting rod to use for stuff like t-rigs, senkos, tubes(mostly jig heads), and jigs around 1/4oz. Rare occasions heaviest weight would be a 3/4oz jig head but most likely only 3/8 the heaviest. Granted I know it is probably a stretch to assume I'll get all of this out of one rod. BUt keep that in mind.

Would only be used in open water, rocks and very light vegetation. So pulling a fiish it out isn't a major issue.

I'm really considering the Carrot stix but am not sure which one would be right. I'd like to hear you recommendations for which model. Also I'm open to any other rod as long as it is really no more than $150, and preferably around 7ft for casting distance.

Thanks in advance,

And by the way. I did try looking at previous posts back to around December the other day but they were able to spend alot more.

I would think that you would want a rod with an extra fast action to fish plastics and light jigs. The carrot stik would seem not to fit that technique but that is just my opinion.

I can only comment on my E21 LTX 6'9" MH with a Fast tip...works great for a 3/4oz football jig. It'll throw from 1/4 to 3/4oz...

I also throw lighter stuff, like 1/8 and 1/4 oz plastics on my 6'7" LTX spinning rod.

The Shimano Crucial is a real nice rod and falls just below your $150 limit.

Sweet, I get to be the first person to recommend the Loomis MBR844C. It is out of that price point, but if you can afford to put some more money in it, I think you'd be extatic with it. I personally don't have one yet (I got the MBR783C), but I think it is going to be my next rod. I've tried it out, and it was awesome. Now, since I don't want to be worthless and recommend a rod that is out of your price point, I'd check out CastAway rods. I tried one of these, and was very impressed for the price it was.
