Just bought a new Bait casting rod from Cabelas Bargain Cave for $39.99, down from $79.99. Bought a 2 piece 6'- 6", M/H, 10-17, 1/4-3/4, 7" rear and 2" front. Should be a nice rod for walking and fishing from the banks of the Elk River. Any way they are really nice rods and you can't beat the price, Mike

Mike, hope you enjoy.  I ordered a discontinued XML got email confirmations, then later it was cancelled.  Complained to Cabelas...  Then saw a similar one, ordered again.  Even called next day to ensured it was in stock.  I was assured that it was.  Next day -- cancelled.  Two days later, showed in stock again.  Still received the reel with no rod to put it on...  At least Cabelas is supposed to cover return shipping.  To make matters worse, when I asked about alternatives, the product specialist refered me to full price models that would have resulted in a combo with total cost higher than the cost of new year model combos...  They also wouldn't match the prices of in the flyers for the retail outlets.  Sorry for venting...  :'(

I sincerely hope that you order comes through.  I was pretty excited to be able to try out the Cabelas house brands.  After I cool off I might still try one of the combos.  Please let us know how you like the Fish Eagles.  It seems as though everyone sho ones one loves them

Leon, Sorry to hear about your problems with Cabelas but I can honestly say that in the many years I have dealt with them I have never had a bad experience. Always very kind and helpful staff and the two times I did return something it was handled free of shipping charges and nothing but apologies from the staff.

I have heard other complaints lately and maybe there customer service is going down hill like so many others have. Sure hope not!

Over the past couple of years I have heard only good things about there Fish Eagle rods but I'll let you know what I think when I get it. Thanks for heads up, Mike

I should be clear, the folks at Cabelas were very polite.  It is just their inventory system that frustrated me.  I will probably order from them in the future.  Cheers!
