I have an old Shimano VCT70M Fast Taper 8lb to 17lb 1/4 -5/8 oz rod and was one of first real bass rods I owned.  I had a Calcutta 100A I used on it.  It has always worked well for plastics.  The question is... what is this pole truly designed for?
