Carrot Stix B/C Parabolic Question/Problem

Featured Replies

I have the 6'9" baitcast parabolic rod.  I know that this is for crankbaits, but want to know (I haven't used it yet) if this can be used for Senkos too.  I think it should be ok for light t-rigs & drop shotting.

But you think that it could be used for Senkos?

Here's what happened.  I ordered from Cabelas & they can't get the order right for the 6'9" MH baitcast rod.  They have sent instead the 6'9" parabolic.  I complained & they sent another Carrot stix & sent another wrong one.  This time the 7'2" Parabolic.  On the 3rd try, they sent again the 6'9" parabolic.  So I have 3 parabolic rods that I really don't want, but will end up keeping one, which will be the 6'9" parabolic.  I prefer a rod action that is more of something that I can use w/ a few different techniques, & it seems that the parabolic is more for crankbaits.

So just want to know from those who own the parabolic if I can use it for Senkos.

Thanks for reading.

I wouldnt use a parabolic/crankbait rod for plastics. You need to be able to can drive the hook through the plastic and through the jaw. IMO I would use this rod for small cranks/spinnerbaits.

I would continue to send it back until they got it right. It is Cabelas responsiblility to make things are right. I would call cusotmer service again and have them make a note you dont want the parabolic action.

Definitely not for senkos.

I'm sure you could get away drop shotting, as the hook is pretty much exposed, you're not pulling the hook through plastic.

I'd send it back until they got it right. It's their fault they can't get it right, and you paid the money. Don't waste $150 if your'e not gonna use it for what it's for.

If you throw cranks a lot, then that's another story.

I believe you can use any rod for any application you want.  It might not feel right, but anyone can adjust to anything eventually.

I've got the 6'9 M Parabolic and it's great, but it's my only parabolic rod and I initially had issues setting the hook with crank baits when I first got it so I could only imagine the frustrations senko fishing with it.   It wouldn't be my first choice for senkos.

i have the 7'2" parabolic and i use everything with it. i like how the blank is very exposed and i would use with senkos for sure. i throw just about everything with mine ranging from swimbaits to 1/8th texas rig. i would use it with a senko if i was you. i don't beleive in all that stuff about certain baits for certain rods. there are different stiuations and different kinds of rods that are better. but if it gets the bait out there... its good enough for me

Problem solved, FINALLY was able to talk to a supervisor about the Carrot Stix dilemma.  She is crediting back to my credit card 1 of the wrong Carrot Stix from the 3.  I am going to keep 1 of the 3 wrong one, the 6'9" parabolic.

I pretty much told the supervisor that I have no faith in Cabelas to send a 4th MH rod & actually get the right one.  I pointed out on their website that on the Carrot Stix LTX b/c rods, the 6'9" parabolic, 6'9" MH & 7'2" parabolic, after you press "add to cart", the model number that comes up are wrong, like they are all transposed.  She saw this mistake & understood.  So she credited back one of the wrong ones sent.  So I am sending back 2 of the wrong ones.

Now I just have to decide where to order my Carrot Stix 6'9" MH LTX b/c rod from.  I see that *** has this model available now, & also Delos & Simmons Sports on ebay.

Well, once the MH arrives I'll have 3 Carrot Stix.  I'll use the parabolic for crankbaits & topwater.

Just trying to get the MH has been a nightmare since I first originally ordred the 6'9" MH b/c & the 7' Med spinning rods.  The past 2 weeks has been frustrating trying to have Cabelas send the right  rod & ending up w/ 3 wrong baitcast rods.  I had 2 parabolics & 1 7'2" parabolic.  All I want is the 6'9" MH.....

Out here in Cali,I throw a lot of plastics on 6lb line.My worm rod is a Phenix Don Iovino model that bends almost half way down the blank! I fish a lot of deep water doodling, and the softer tip gives my bait a more subtle action than a stiffer rod with a fast tip.I've set the hook on fish in over 100 feet of water and don't have a problem with the hook set. If you're fishing light line you'll need a more forgiving rod.
