P-Line question

Featured Replies

What's the difference between P-Line Floroclear and CX Premium. The are both Fluorocarbon coated copolymer lines correct? And has anyone had any experience with either? I'm thinking of trying one of them out in 8# test on my new spinning real.

Thanks

Floroclear With Floroclear's fluorocarbon coating the line is virtually invisible once it enters the water. This gives anglers the advantage of a more stealthy presentation, which will guarantee more strikes and hookups. With a special silicone treatment, Floroclear has reduced memory and increased castability. From small finesse baits for bass to huge plugs for stripers in the surf, this line just plain casts.
CX Premium Clear Fluorescent P-Line's CX Premium Fluorocarbon Coated Line is one of the most innovative lines available, combining copolymer and fluorocarbon technologies. With low memory and improved limpness, CX Premium eliminates the line nightmares of a spinning reel, and improves casting distance with a baitcasting reel. The fluorocarbon-silicone coating virtually eliminates water absorption, so cold water and weather have little effect on line performance. With as much as 30% less stretch than average lines, it has increased sensitivity to detect and react to even the most subtle strikes. This great all-purpose premium line is available in clear fluorescent and moss green.

Trying to interpret these descriptions Floroclear is low visibility with low memory, CX has improved sensitivity and low memory. I think I've hear that CX is stronger. Am I close?

I've had good experiences with 6# Floroclear. However, I've been wondering how visible the CX is under water.

I have used 12 and 15 pound CX premium in the moss green color and to be honest with you, both line sizes were not that invisible.  I still think they are more invisible than regular ol' mono but I can still see the line with relative ease.  I have caught quite a few fish using it this year but my lakes aren't exactly crystal clear either.

I use Floroclear almost exclusively (jig rig is 100% flourocarbon, and top water is mono) and think it's the best line I've ever tied a lure to.  Super strong and very easy to work with.  I liken it to braid in terms of how easy it handles.  Great stuff.

I switched to Excaliber Silver Thread Co-Polymere line a few years ago. I have tried Cabelas Pro-Line (co-polymere) line and its pretty much the same quality as excaliber silver thread. I mainly use the green colored line, it seems to disappear in the water too. On my carolina rigged rod i use a cajun red line leader (mono). I like the co-polymere lines because of less stretch which means quicker hook sets.
