split rings for senko's

Featured Replies

hey guys, what size spilt rings do you usually go with for senkos. for those that are confused, i want the split ring so i dont chew up senko's when i wacky rig them. any suggestions on sizes and brand would be great. i also assume most are the same girth, but just for reference, im using yamamato senkos, yum dingers, and tiki wave sticks. thanks for helping guys

on the same note of split rings how are those ultimate smartlink titanium rings that you find on ***?  they soudn like a great idea but i can also see how you could lose fish too.  anyone use them?

They're actually rubber o-rings and you can find them in the plumbing section of most hardware type stores like Lowes or HD.  I don't have the exact size but you want them slightly smaller than the thickest point on the Senko (or knockoff).  By wacky worming this way you can re-use the bait over and over.

lol man i feel dumb, my mind was so set on split rings for some reason when o-rings are infinitely better lol.  thanks for the info guys.

on another note, anyone use those titanium wire split rings....the ones that are supposed to save your lureby releasing your hook.  they sound like a good concept and pretty well engineered.  i read a review on tackletour, but would like to get the opinions from people on this forum.

If you want to use something less expensive than O rings, try "Goodies". These are small, clear, rubber bands that girls and women use in their hair for braiding. You can pick them up at any Wal-Marts store. You just double them on the tip of your long nose pliers, open the pliers a bit, then pull the loop open with your hook to form a triangular opening, slip the Senko in and presto! (Sounds more complicated that it actually is.) They last and last - as will your Senko - and they are clear to conform to your Senko color. Been using these for a few seasons now. Works fine.
