Went ahead and got a Daiwa Exceler 2500

Featured Replies

Went ahead with that instead of either of the ones i was choosing before. Anyone using one and how has it treated you. The guy said i can take it back anytime even if i dont like it as long as he is working there.

my primary use is freshwater. put a 8lb test line on it. hopefully it will make me happy. if not i will just change it for the shimano. The spool was so small on the shimano sahara.

I like mine.  Its casting and line management is on par with my Stradic FH.  However, once in a while the bail trips on the cast.

I think you'll enjoy it. ;)

Oh man so i brought the badboy out today for an hour run. And i have it equipped with a Fenwick EAGLE GT rod.  I always had grown up using those cheap shakespeare combo's and enjoyed them but after the first cast even with a tiny jighead and white worm, that thing SAILED . I didnt even realize something could feel so good and carry so far with hardly any weight. I only noticed once where the line got kinda snaggled on the spool but it corrected itself.  And at the end of the night i was catching walleye every cast. they were little guys but i could feel every single tap with that rod. Im really pleased. I just hope the reel will last me a good while and its durable..... Tommorow will be the real test when i go to the spillway and pull in endless 2-6lb whipers. ;D
