Abu cardinals

Featured Replies

I was just wondering does anybody know of a spool that holds more line? I think that is the only problem with my reel it casts ALL the line out no matter how full it is.

A 101a Cardinal holds about 110 yds of 6# mono. If you can cast all 300 plus feet, you really should be entering a distance casting contest! 8-)

You're not telling us evey thing. What size line are you using ?

Sorry about that I use 10# XL or XT  because I am a shore pounder and there is some pretty tough nasty stuff around the banks.

175 yds of 6 lb. line capacity and you run out of line ?

With ten pound almost maybe like 20 yards (guess) on the reel.

More like 90 to 110 yds. There is something going on there.

Sorry man, but if you have a full spool(or even close for that matter) then there is NO WAY you are throwing all of your line out, not even close.

The B.S. train is cruising down the tracks.

That is why I put guess on there just a rough estimate not trying to B.S. I hate B.S.'ing people. I just wanted to know if I can get a spool that holds more line for my cardinal. Mostly because if I have to cut off I have just a little bit left,

A cardinal 302 holds 175 yds of 6lb. So with 10 you will still get way over 100 yds of line. It is not possible to run out of line. If you are then you have either not filled your spool, have had many break offs, or have a faulty spool. This spool is actually larger than many other spinning reels. This isn't based on opinion it is a fact that the spool holds 175yds....Will be a little less with 10 pound.

You might want to consider moving up to the next size in order to get more capacity.  If I was consistently getting 100 yards from a Cardinal, I would stay loyal to the design.  Why mess with a good thing.  Cheers
