crank?

Featured Replies

I have a bunch of cranks that I got in a lure package on ebay. They are slightly used , or atleast taken out of the package. I have gotten into the habit of writing the max depth of a crank on the bottom of the bait before placing in my box, but these I have no clue. Is there a way to generally get an idea of the running depth?

Get you wife to jump in the water and watch the baits swim by. ;D Don't forget to give her a tape measure.

LOL ;D

Thats about what I was thinking, I just hate to have about $50 in cranks and not know the depth they run.

Check the bills.

Draw them on a sheet of paper if necessary.

Go to your local tackle shop and view their selection of crankbaits.

Match your drawings to the bills on the store's cranks and you will have an "idea" of how deep they will go.

You can also check the size and width when you make your comparisions to see how they will wobble.

Make sure the hooks are sharp.  I hate it when they throw the cranks as they approach the boat.

Post some pictures.  We can probably identify them by make or brand.

Or just simply use them around some structure at different depths and see which ones will hit it.Keeping in mind the dia.of line your using though. Also keep an eye out if you see any of them sold in the shops, read the package.
