G. Loomis - smr882s  - questions

Featured Replies

I have a chance to pick up a G. Loomis smr882s at a good price.  But I have a few questions about the rod.

I can't figure out what it's made of. IMX, GL3, etc. ?

Since it is designed for small mouth would I still be able to appreciate it fishing for large mouth. And what techniques would it be tailored to.

Thanks in advance.

It's some where between the GL3 and IMX. It's primary use is for soft plastics.

I have the SMR882S and I think it is a very good rod.  I am not sure where how it is constructed between the GL3, IMX, GLX catergories, but I agree with the above poster, it does not feel as sensitive as my IMX, but it is more sensitive then my GL3.

I use my SMR882S for LM Bass all the time.  I mainly fish flukes and shaky heads with it, but I have thrown Senkos and drop shot rigs with it.  My only complaint (and it is minor) is that the rod is slightly tip heavy, but since these rods are so light to begin with, you don't notice it much.
