8lb mono berkley sensation ?

Featured Replies

I recently respolled my spinrod with 8 lb berkley sebsation mono line for fishing my GYCB's mainly senkos and hula grubs. Today while out my line broke off way too much and i was not fishing in heavy cover. Mostly open water with select weed beds. Is it possible that i just got bad line, I had the same line on my rod earlier this summer and it seemed to work great.

Is it possible that i just got bad line,

Sure, anything's possible, although I don't know how likely it would be.

I've used some 10# Sensation and didn't have problems, but it certainly was subject to abrasion from vegetation. Might you have gotten abraded and weren't checking the line often enough?

Any chance you were executing hooksets that were too strong for that line and the drag setting you were using?

Was the line breaking in random places as opposed to breaking at the knot?

I don't profess to have any answers, just trying to toss out some possibilities.

throw it out.

Seriously.  It breaks way too easily.  If you don't throw it out, you may be tempted to use it again.

It's single handedly the worst line I think I have used. I have more confidence in 6lb line from many other companies, then 8lb sensation. I took it off after the first trip after several break offs.

I was breaking off at the knot with Sensation, but I've only tried it once to be fair.  Send it in to Pure Fishing and ask for something different.  The Trilene Max is a lot better IMHO.
