I am not a swimbaiter by any means, but I was told you want a reel that can handle about 200yds of 17-20lb line.

What about retrieve ratio?

I have been looking at 300/400 series calcuttas and cardiffs, they all seem to have ratios between 5.0:1 and 5.8:1.  So I would say you will be ok.

That's a very good reel for swimbaits. It also excels as a Muskie reel. Swimbaits are no different than Muskie baits.
