I am making my christmas list haha so i need help finding the best crainkbait rod to ask for. Ive came across two rods that have caught my eye so far. first is a Daiwa Mike Iaconelli 7'8" med rod and second is a powell 7' med

i mostly throw crankbaits similar to a fat free shad.

shimano crucial crankbait rod.  nuff said.  It's a great rod.  I have the 7' MH for big cranks.  They run $130-$150.

if i was you i would wait on the new Quantum KVD Tour Rods. Should be out any time.

I have a Carrot Stix  6'9" MF cranking stick that is great for throwing to specific spots such as under overhangs and brush, it handles 1/4-3/4 oz. lures.  I ordered it for a guy in our club to use at Buggs Island and he never even took the tags off of it, it just rode around in his rod locker till a couple weeks ago and I gave him his money back on it.   I will let you have it for $140 shipped if you are interested.   If I don't sell it before next spring I am gonna keep it for myself.  

I would also go with a carrot stick, but I would go 6'9" parabolic action.
