Cabelas Ripcord SI Line

Featured Replies

Has anybody tried this braided line?  I have been using 30lb powerpro for a while and it seems fine, but I talked to somebody today that swears by this stuff.  He says it gives you more warning before it breaks, is cheaper, and seems to last longer.  Have any of you folk tried this stuff?  Thanks

I've tried it & didn't like the slightly thicker diameter in same poundage compared to Power Pro or Sufix. Sufix braid in same poundage is a slight thinner diameter(also costs a bit more) than Power Pro. Ripcord doesn't seem consistant w/ the line coloring. It seems that when you reel it on your spool, there are some spots on the line that is lighter in color. Also Ripcord sounds louder going through the guides than Power Pro or Sufix. I've tried Bass Pro Shops braid also & it's about as the same diameter thickness as Ripcord. But this line, the color on it fades much faster then previous said line.

like ghost said, ripcord is slightly thicker  than powerpro. it is also noisier go through the guides. however, given the price difference, i like it ($60 for 1,000 yards) and i've been using it exclusively this fall...i've had no line failures at all. i have both ripcord si and si+ and, although si+ is even noisier and rougher, it has more body and casts slightly better.
