I just bought a Medium Heavy Daiwa Tierra rod because i have no bc rod beyond M power.  

I fish mainly for smallies, and i only plan on flipping/pitching 1/4-3/8 jigs and throwing finesse frogs over pads.

will a MH rod do?

It'll be just fine.  

The medium heavy is a great all around bass rod.

Usually a 6'6" is great and when pitching and flipping you can go longer, like to a 7' or 7'3.

The heavy rod would be good when you need the power to get the bass out of the slop, weeds and grass when fishing frogs.

If you throw a frog in open water then a medium heavy is OK.

Be sure to read the specifications on the rod and balance them with the specifications on your reel.

A reel with a lower ratio is power while a higher reel ratio is speed.

Frogging and slop, no. Pitching moderately heavy cover, yes.

Contrary to popular disbelief, fishing frogs can be done with a MH. Even in the slop.

Now in your case, your rod should be a great fit for the applications you described.

thx you guys.  i'm happy about my purchase now.  I had the choice between a 6'6" MH or a 7' H ... but i decided that the MH rod would be more versatile, and i don't think i'll really need a rod as stiff as a billiard cue for the type of flipping/pitching/frogging i do.  

Now i need to get me some 20# braid
