My father just sent me a Penn 920 Baitcaster. It is in excellent shape but there are no directions with it. The line that is on it appears to be some type of rope looking material

Does anyone know about these? I would like to add it to my arsenal as it is a very nice reel. I have most of it figured out except there is a little chrome lever on the side of the body (top) that I cannot figure out what it does.

Also what type of line would you use with the reel?

I think I may just send it into Penn to have it inspected and cleaned / lubed.
