I need to buy a rod suitable for ripping lipless cranks outta grass. What action do I want to look for? What line are you guys running when ripping? I really like my powells and would like to stay with them.

Mine is fitted with a Curado E7 and 12# mono.

I fish a lot of 3/4oz CB's and am ripping them out of the Eel grass most of the time.  it does a nice job on 3/8oz CB's as well.

I use either an All Star or Kistler medium heavy rod.

Just check the rod's specs to make sure it can handle the line size and lure weight.

I also use 17 to 20 pound mono XT if throwing the rats the grass.

I would think any name brand rod, like you Powell's, would suffice as long as you balance the reel's specs with the rod's specs.
