BPS Rod/Reel Combo

Bass Pro Shop® Stampede® Spinning Rod and Reel Combos - Rear Drag Item #38-940-114-00

I purchased one of these with a M action 5'6" rod for crappie fishing. The price is $19.99. On a scale of 1-5, I give this combo a 5. I bought 3 more identical combos. This is perhaps the best deal on the web. Crappie fishing stumps with 4# test line results in many break offs. I rig all four before I leave the house.

I would think 4# line with a 5'6" rod in stumps would result in many break offs. I'd try 6 or even 8# line. See if your number of bites drops off significantly and if not try for awhile to evaluate the breakoffs.

I fish stumps for crappies with 4# mono.  Mostly 1/16 oz jigs.  I catch a lot more with light line in the clear water I fish so I just deal with a few breakoffs...  The jigs cast a lot better with lighter line too...
