i got a new setup for x-mas i havnt tried it out yet,and i was woundering if any of you guys could let me know if this is ok for a beginner i got it at wally-world and threw the packaging out before i could read anyof it. well i ended up getting a "quantum tournament " IM8 7ft medium action i paid 40bucks for that and i got a shimano syncopate 2500fe spinning reel for 35.i cannot find out anything online about them

The tour grade rods at walmart fall into two categories. Some are the now discontinued tour grad rods, IM8, fuji guides, fuji reel seats, etc. Some are "tour grade" made for walmart,, IM 8, crappy guides, and a graphite or stainless steel seat. Depending on the rod you have you either got a steal or an 40 dollar rod. The reel's info is here
